‘Jalaibee’ is pure entertainment: Yasir Jaswal
Jailaibee’s director Yasir Jaswal says his film will be a welcome break from ‘social issue’ inspired films and is hard core entertainment. Just like the dessert it’s title is inspired by Jalaibee is filled with twists and turns that seem to go on in circlesbut are fun nonetheless.
Speaking to Dawn.com Jaswal said:
“It’s a fun, twisted story set in an alternate world which is mostly fiction. It neither has any message nor does it address any social issue. It’s pure entertainment.”
The crime caper alternates between live action and animation – a style whuch has never been experimented with in Pakistani cinema before. The illustrations and artwork have been done by Lahore based aretist Babrus Khan and a London based artist who is handling the VFX.
Another surprise for a film which the director claims will have the audience eagerly munching down popcorn is that there is only one performance song (a sexy number that Zhalay Sarhadi dances to – but the team of Jalaibee is careful not to use the term item song for the performance).
The former Call member said “Jalaibee has a lot of songs. I come from a musical background and I believe music to be the best medium to show progression in a movie. You won’t see anyone singing and dancing to them though as they’re being used as background songs.”
The film is tentatively set to release in 2015.
