The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) of Pakistan could not reach a unanimous decision over the fate of the film due to technical differences between the board members.

To sort it out, as per the regular proceedings of the board, a full-board was called to review the film.

“The full board had approved the film for public viewing with a 8-1 ratio in favour of the film,” said Pakistan Censor Board chairman Mobashir Hasan.

“Under the Motion Pictures Ordinance of 1979 and Censorship of Film Rules act of 1980, the ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage has the right review the board’s decision,” he explained.

Happy Bhag Jayegi tells a story of a girl who plans to run away from her wedding and during that course she crosses the borders and reaches the neighbouring country, Pakistan. Soon the story rolls on to be a romantic comedy. In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, actor Ali Fazal told us that although the film was partially based in Pakistan, none of the shoots took place their. They had mainly shot in Amritsar, Chadigarh and various other regions in India.

The movie, starring Abhay Deol, Diana Penty, Ali Fazal and Jimmy Shergill, also marks Pakistani actor Momal Sheikh’s Bollywood debut.
