Ilma’s miseries have no respite but much to the viewers’ delight, the downfall of Sharafat Begum’s ‘rule’ has started and we hope that it’s super quick and lasts! Sharafat Begum represents hypocrisy and double standards. Zarbab is a coward so he is always ready to accept whatever she wants but Arif has shown that she is not very ‘dangerous’ if handled craftily. In fact, both Zarbab and Ilma are not daring and Sharafat Begum took full advantage of their respectful and coy nature.
We can only feel sorry for Sharafat Begum and Zarbab who consider Ilma ‘manhoos’ and due to this, they are now facing problems. This is a rather despicable mindset and shows how people shift the outcome of their own wrongdoings onto others. This is the only reason that made them unsuccessful as they always think in the wrong direction. This mindset is prevalent in our society and the cause of many social ills. The scene where Zarbab shows his displeasure towards Ilma shows how weak he is as he was giving the same argument as his mother was giving. He is always influenced by others and unable to think independently which is the root cause of all his problems.
Sumbal and Ramish’s conversation shows the maturity of their characters. Here it is noteworthy that people always like if some male character shares his past love life and somehow makes him the most honest and straightforward human ever. We agree but would we like to give the same right to a woman? We probably aren’t so gracious so let’s not term this act some chivalry because being a man, it is very convenient for Ramish to confess although we already know that he is very straightforward and honest.
Ramish is absolutely right to lend a hand to the Waqar girls but sometimes it’s very annoying as Sumbal is always at the receiving end. She must listen to her mind instead of her heart otherwise she won’t be happy in life (or she should be ready for constant presence of Waqar Chacha’s daughters around her).
Sharafat Begum was drooling over Rania and Arif but they made it clear that she can visit them occasionally and they would not welcome her to stay permanently with them. It was really amazing to see the disappointed Sharafat Begum and we expect that she would soon realize the importance of Ilma but now it’s too late. How Sharafat and Zarbab left Ilma alone at home in acute pain is not an incident to forget. It’s over now regarding Ilma and Zarbab’s relationship.
Aiza Khan is at her best in the character of Ilma. This episode further establishes the fact that she is an accomplished actor. The play seems to be heading towards its end but we have yet to see whether Ilma emerges out as a winner, and whether Zarbab and his family are punished for their misconduct and treatment towards Ilma or there is some other surprise in store for us.
