Actor In Law is an upcoming 2016 Pakistani comedy film starring Fahad Mustafa, Mehwish Hayat and Indian Bollywood actor Om Puri will be releasing September 13th on Eid-ul-Adha 2016.
The film is directed by Nabeel Qureshi and co-written and produced by Fizza Ali Meerza is a dramatic comedy in which Shan Mirza (Fahad Mustafa) is an up and coming overtly theatrical lawyer who aspires to become an actor, and has to tackled the disapproval from his father, family and society in order to pursue his dreams. Suddenly his world is turned upside down when he is faced with a case that shakes the foundation of the country and threatens his career and family.
“I really think this is a film that everyone will enjoy its not just a comedy for the sake of comedy, the film has a powerful message. I can’t tell you much more than, except that this film takes a serious issue like “peer pressure” from family, society and portrays how to overcome it in an entertaining and comedic way. I really think every one will enjoy it, ” said Khan in an exclusive interview with Desi Talk Chicago.
Khan who is an actor and producer of many Pakistani TV shows reached superstar in status by his numerous Pakistani TV serials and the current host of popular game show “Jeeto Pakistan” feels that the time to start films is now. “ There is a lot of talent here at home in Pakistan, we have been watching Bollywood films for a long time, even though our country is famous for its dramas. I like to see Bollywood films but I feel we also should encourage our own actors and industry,” said Mustafa.
The film also stars Mehwish Hayat, Pakistani actress and model as the female lead who plays a saucy, independent and outspoken journalist. “ I really enjoyed doing this role, playing a Parsi girl which as you know is very uncommon in Pakistan, I had to learn a dialect and accent. This film required me to really show my acting skills as my other roles were mostly cameos,” said Hayat.
The film also stars Bollywood actor Om Puri who plays the part of Rafaqat Mirza, father is Shan Mirza said that he wanted to do the film because he really liked the script. “I didn’t know this team personally when I was approached for the film. But I was aware of the fact that Pakistani films have improved a lot. Fizza and Nabeel came up with a very unusual script. The whole team is very talented,” said Puri at a recent press conference.
