Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra has always come up with unconventional movies, and the music in his movies have invariably been out of the box and breathtaking. His upcoming venture Mirzya will also take the viewers through a soulful journey by portraying the powerful and epic love story of Mirza and Sahiban. The music of Mirzya has been composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, and like always even this time they will take their fans through a melodious journey through their music.
The title song of Mirzya is an amalgamation of skilful Sufi singers from India, Balochistan and Pakistan.
Indian singers such as Daler Mehndi along with upcoming young Sufi singers Jyoti, Nooran sisters headed from Jalandhar embrace the Indian singers for the movies’ title track. And from Pakistani Sufi singer Sain Zahoor has given his melodious voice for the title track of the movie. Sain Zahoor is known for singing mostly religious songs at the shrines. Apart from such eminent singers lending their voices to the title track even Akhtar Chanal Zahri who is an internationally celebrated Balochi folk singer also joined to add his mesmerising voice to the title track of the movie to add his highly appreciated powerful voice to the lyrics of Gulzar.
Shankar Mahadevan has mentioned in a statement that Sain Zahoor’s character is quite interesting, and his looks are amazing. He is extremely innocent and is immersed into his own music and world. He never put his voice into a recording studio until 2006. And the unique thing is when he is taught the lyrics of a song he draws pictures instead of jotting down the syllables, and that is how he remembers the words. It’s a delight working with him.
Shankar Mahadevan is quite fond of the Baloch singer Akhter Chanal Zahri as well. Shankar mentioned that its is fun working with him and he has an outstanding voice texture which represents Afghanistan. Shankar added that they had to compose the pieces around voices of two exquisite singers so that the presence of their voices do not look forced.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have recorded 300 hours for Mirzya. And out of those 300 hours a huge part has been used in Mirzya. And there are two different love stories in the movie and one of them has been portrayed through songs and music.
