Tension is not just brewing between India and Pakistan, but their people as well. Even film industry has not been spared. The decades-old rivalry has gripped attention of billions of people world over.

This all started with an Indian journalist’s demand to throw Khoobsurat actor Fawad Khan out of India after the Uri base attack which claimed 18 Indian soldiers’ lives following Indian forces’ atrocities in held Kashmir in the recent months.

An Indian political party MNS also jumped into the bandwagon and called for a ban on Pakistani artists.

When Raees actress Mahira Khan became victim of such a vitriol, she did not let it go unnoticed and gave a befitting reply on her an Instagram post.

“If your mother would have beaten you with a stick, you wouldn’t have uttered such nonsense,” she responded to a comment made by Saamiii786 who said “Apko india se abhi danday nahi paray,” (You have not so far beaten up by India).

Rest of the matter was adeptly handled by her fans from home and across the border.

Indian artists who are featuring Pakistani actors are also facing the backlash and celebrated director/ producer Karachi Johar is one of them.

MNS has told Karan that his new film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) will not be allowed to run in Maharashtra cinemas.

On the flip side, Karan has asked, “Will banning Pakistani talent from Hindi films stop terrorism?”

The movie ADHM stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Pakistani actors were warned by the MNS to leave India in 48 hours and the Shiv Sena has demanded that those who give them work be booked.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV on The Towhall, Karan Johar said that he understands and shares the rage and anguish of people but banning talent from Pakistan was not the solution to terrorism.

“Today, I feel I am a vulnerable soft target… sometimes you want to, with folded hands, say that we are a creative industry, please leave us alone, we make movies, we spread love,” he said.
