After MNS threat, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story boycotted in Pakistan family, wedding pictures, age, height, weight, biography
Days after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena asked Pakistani actors to leave India, Pakistani distributors have decided not to release MS Dhoni biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The film starring actor Sushant Singh Rajput as the Indian cricket captain is releasing this Friday.
According to reports, IMGC Global Entertainment, a Pakistan-based distribution company, has backed out of releasing the film in Pakistan. Its chairman was quoted as saying in the report, “Amid current tension between the two countries, we have decided not to release the film.”
More from the world of Entertainment:
Pakistan is the third highest overseas market for Bollywood and the ban will affect the box office of MS Dhoni biopic. The film has not been featured on the to-release list of film theatres in the country.
In the aftermath of Uri attack in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed, MNS had given an ultimatum to Pakistani actors to leave India. The Raj Thackeray-led organisation had also announced that films starring Pakistani actors will not be allowed to release in India. The films being targetted include Fawad Khan-starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees which has Mahira Khan as the female lead.
A petition was also filed at the Lahore High Court on September 23, which sought a ban on Indian films until the Kashmir issue is resolved. The PIL was filed by lawyer Azhar Saddique and mentioned showing Bollywood movies in Pakistan will “hurt sentiments of the people in Pakistan and Kashmir”.
On Tuesday, MNS said all Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan, have left India. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’s team is yet to comment on the issue.
