Ajay Devgn says won't share screen with Pakistani actors, Farah says Indians better family, wedding pictures, age, height, weight, biography, husband, wife, affairs
A DAY after actor Fawad Khan talked about coming together to build “a more peaceful world”, fellow Pakistani actor Mahira Khan Saturday issued a statement with a prayer for peace. Both the actors have been under criticism after the Uri attack and their detractors have been asking them to take a stand.
Meanwhile, actor Ajay Devgn has said he would not share any artistic space with Pakistani actors in the current situation. Director Farah Khan, on her part, has said she would prefer to cast “somebody from my own country”.
Fawad will be seen in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, scheduled to release on October 28, while Mahira features in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, which is set to release on January 26. In her statement, Mahira said: “I strongly condemn any act of terror, any loss of human life no matter which soil it is on! I will not rejoice in bloodshed and war. I will always hope for and dream of a world where my child can live without it…”
Devgn, when asked if he will share artistic space with Pakistani artistes, said, “Not at the moment. I am very clear on this because you are an Indian first… Their artistes are standing by their nation. They are earning here but are sticking by their nation. We should learn from them.”
The actor told CNN-News 18: “There is an exchange of bullets happening and you are talking about exchange of culture? We cannot isolate ourselves from the nation.” When asked to comment on Salman’s and Karan’s remarks on the issue, he said, “It’s saddening. You need to take a stand.” Devgn’s film Shivaay is pitted against Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Farah, meanwhile, said “There are two that we are talking about and they are not important in the scheme of things. The movies were made when it was not illegal to work with Pakistani artists and it would be unfair to ban those films. If you say we should not work with them from now on, I say we have enough talent in our country and we should work with them. I think we are far better so I would prefer working with someone from my country in my movies.”
