What makes the new age cinema of Pakistan even more interesting, is (unfortunately) not the quality of films, but the amalgamation of new and old talent. Where we see newcomers like Bilal Ashraf and Armeena Khan reaching new heights, we also see veteran artists, such as Shaan Shahid and Saima, updating themselves to fit in the current style of film making.

Continuing her legacy, actress Resham recently bagged the Best Actress in a Soap award at the ‘4th Servis Hum Awards’ and it doesn’t stop here. Swaarangi’s dismal performance at the box office lats year hasn’t slowed down Resham, and she is all set to bring her latest war-oriented action/drama film to the cinema screens near us.

A source close to the actress spoke to HIP exclusively about the film’s plot. The story revolves around the 1971 war and the lives of people who were effected during the partition of West and East Pakistan (now two separate nations, Pakistan and Bangladesh). The source further revealed that the period film will take you back to the 60’s. The movie is funded by ISPR, hence, we can surely expect a solid dose of patriotism and nationalism.

Not much details regarding the cast and crew have yet been disclosed, but Resham plays the character of an empowered woman, who goes through obstacles in life due to the political and social insatiability. The shoot has mostly wrapped up and only a bit of a patchwork is left.

Previously, ISPR has funded projects television projects like Sunehray Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie and despite being termed “an ISPR-funded propaganda”, the audience enjoyed them more than anything. But then we saw projects like Shahpar and (arguably) Waar which failed to impress. Let’s see what this project has in store for us.

We wish Resham and the whole team of the film all the luck, and hope to see a film that does justice to the sensitive yet important topic.
