Anurag Kashyap bats for Karan Johar, lambasts Modi on Twitter family, wedding pictures, age, height, weight, biography
As PM Modi on Sunday flayed Pakistan at the restricted BRICS leaders’ meet in Goa calling it the “mothership of terrorism”, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap asked Modi to apologize for his Pakistan visit.
Kashyap vented his frustration following the cinema owners’ decision here not to screen movies with Pakistani actors, a move that has hit hard Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” which features Pakistani Fawad Khan.
“We solve all our problems by blaming it on movies and banning it. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, with you on this Karan Johar,” Kashyap tweeted.
“Narendra Modi Sir, you haven’t yet said sorry for your trip to meet the Pakistani PM. It was December 25. Same time KJo was shooting ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’? Why?” Anurag asked.
He also asked why Modi was silent when filmmakers just like other taxpayers had to bear the brunt, while he went to Pakistan at the expense of exchequer.
There was an apparent bonhomie between the prime ministers of India and Pakistan, with Nawaz Sharif attending Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Modi even embarked on an unscheduled trip to Pakistan on the occasion of the marriage of Sharif’s daughter.
But things went downhill since the Pathankot attacks, and further deteriorated with the recent surgical strikes following the Uri terror attacks.
The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India on Friday said that movies featuring Pakistani actors would not be screened in single screen theatres in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s “Raees” is also under the radar for featuring Pakistan actress Mahira Khan.
