Amid threats from Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to not allow the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in cinema halls, filmmaker Karan Johar will on Thursday meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with other movie producers, ANI reported.

The Raj Thackeray-led party has asked theatre management not to hold any show of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) which features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a cameo. On Wednesday, police arrested a dozen workers of MNS for protesting against the upcoming release of ADHM as the party rejected his statement that he will not “engage with talent” from Pakistan in future. MNS cine wing head Amey Khopkar, after a meeting with senior party leaders and Raj Thackeray, said they were firmly opposing the release.

The MNS and some other political parties have opposed release of films with actors from Pakistan after the Uri terror attack, putting a question mark on the fate of Johar’s movie, slated for release on October 28. The Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India, too, decided not to screen films with Pakistani actors in four states— Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa. A team from Johar’s Dharma Productions, along with filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt and Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studios, had on Tuesday met Mumbai’s top police officials and sought protection for the theatres to screen the film. We’re very well aware of how deep the perils for Ae Dil go, simply for the fact that the film stars a Pakistani actor. However, trouble doesn’t seem to bid farewell to this film. A lot of threats and harrassing demands have left KJo with no option but to seek help from higher officials. The sad part about all this hullabaloo around Ae Dil and it’s Pakistani connect is that despite Karan Johar stated that he wouldn’t engage in any projects with the neighbouring country’s talents, partisans continue to create havoc for the film and the filmmaker. In a video released by Johar, he said, “I respect the Indian army. I salute them for everything they do to protect us in our environment. I respect them with all my heart. I condemn any form of terrorism especially the terrorism that will affect my people in my country and me. We respect our country over and above anything else.” Looks like that ain’t gonna change minds of patriots who are very zealous to jeopardize the release of the film. Slated to release on 28th October, i.e. next Friday, the film is already on the radar for its clash with  Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. But with this constant political backlash that its facing, we wonder if it’ll affect Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s collections at the box office. What are your thoughts?
