‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ generated quite a bit of controversy ahead of its release. Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association Of India (COEAI) had decided to stall the film’s release across single screens, owing to Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s presence in it. According to COEAI, 450 members registered under the body across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and parts of Karnataka would not screen the film.

However, looks like many single screen owners have had a change of heart and have gone against the COEAI directive. Karan Johar’s romantic drama, which released today, has found a place in most single screens across Mumbai.

When contacted, Vinay Choksey, who is also a part of the committee, said, “It was just a request from the side of the committee but I don’t think many owners have actually put the film on hold. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is releasing in maximum single screens barring one or two, if there may be. It wasn’t mandatory for the exhibitors to follow the decision.”

As ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’ clash at the box-office today, all eyes are now set on the opening collections of both the films.
