ISLAMABAD: The new age of film producers and directors should watch all the past classics of the Pakistani film industry and study them.

This was stated by veteran film actor Nisho Begum at the screening of her 1970’s hit movie Baazi at the Lok Virsa Media Centre on Saturday.

The screening had been organised by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) Mandwa Film Club.

Nisho’s debut film was Baazi, in which she appeared in a leading role alongside film stalwarts Mohammad Ali and Nadeem.

“I am really happy that my first-ever film was screened and am glad that old films can still attract an audience,” she said at the event as she shared her experiences of an industry which she saw rise to its peak and then fall before rising again.

“I was lucky enough to work with the legendary actors of my time,” Nisho added, noting that Baazi was also the first time that Ali and Nadeem had starred in the same movie. The movie was directed by
Iqbal Shehzad.

Nisho, whose real name is Bilquis Begum, gained fame and respect in the Pakistani film industry through her debut and went on to work in over 60 Punjabi and Urdu language films during her career. The highlights of her silver screen appearance were Yeh Aman, Kubra Aashiq, Dulhan Rani, Bazaar, Angary, Namak Haram, Rangeela and Dharkan, amongst others.
