Pakistan’s music industry is one which has seen its boom, as well as its doom. We have witnessed days where we shed tears over our favorite bands breaking up, our stars not producing music here, or some individuals giving up on music completely. However, we are always pulled back to our industry because once our artists do start making music, they come up with tracks that leave us hooked for years. Amongst the bands who always create ingenious songs is the famous boy band Jal. And now they are back!

Yes, you heard it right, it’s time to let all the nostalgia kick in as Jal is releasing the video of Tu Muskura, a song from their album Piyas released in 2013.

Tu Muskura may not be a new venture, but we are still excited neverthless, as we couldn’t get enought of Jal’s album in 2013. Honestly, what better way to refresh our memories but with the songs we once couldn’t stop singing to? Also, the decision to release the video at this time is perfect, as after the ban on Indian content, we desperately need the talent of our own artists to lift our spirits.

The video consists of a special compilation of Jal’s live shows, behind the scene moments, travel memories and basically a highlight of the good old days when the ‘concert culture’ in Pakistan was at its peak. The video is a reminder of how good things once used to be, and will defintely encourage more artists to start holding concerts for their fans.

While talking to HIP, Goher Mumtaz, the band’s lead singer, gave an insight on the purpose behind this release:

“Through this video, we want people to know Jal has always been active in terms of concerts, music videos and will keep producing new videos,” shared Mumtaz. “This video is something like the video of Panchi, it is raw and comprises the day to day activities of musicians. Whereas, the lyrics validate the fact that no matter what happens, we have to perform. No matter who stays and who leaves.”

When asked why bringing back concerts is so important to him, he stated, “We recently did a concert in Islamabad and the crowd went wild. For people, it is all about new music videos and songs. Also, we want to cater to the demands of our fans who always wait for our performances.”

It seems like Mumtaz has all the faith in his fans and his enthusiastic spirit might just be contagious. Well, at least he has managed to give us hope for a rocking future of our music industry.

When asked why the band has been missing from the music scene for so long, Gohar Mumtaz said, “We have been performing around the globe and are really active in performances, it’s just that dramas and news channels have dominated music. But we hope to change that soon.”

Hold on, that’s not all the news we have for you!, Jal has devised more plans in the future to keep the fans delighted:

“Next, we are going to perform in Turkey for a Pakistani student association,” Mumtaz shared. “It will be held in Cyprus on the 2nd of December. After Turkey, Jal the band, with Salman on guitars and Amir on bass, are all set to rock the stage for fans with performances in Lahore and Islamabad.”

The lead singer also conclusively gave the reason behind his motivated musical energy:

Tere Baajon and Laiyan Laiyan received a great response, hence, giving me the confidence to keep performing for my fans and to continue singing with Jal

Now, we are certain that Jal is here to stay for a long time and we couldn’t be more excited! After all, who doesn’t want the old concert days to make a comeback in our country?
