ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actress Veena Malik, known in India for her stint in reality TV show “Bigg Boss 4,” has got “Khula,” dissolution of marriage, from her husband Asad Khattak through court.
Her lawyer Ali Ahmed confirmed the separation between Veena and Asad, saying that the family court issued the decree on Jan.31, 2017 on her request.
The court issued the decree in favour of Veena as Asad failed to satisfy it. He did not give further details.
Veena and Asad got married on Dec.25, 2013 and have two children.
Veena filed for Khula after a rift with Asad and his family over her return to showbiz.
However, Asad says that minor differences do crop up among the couples that can be overcome. He said that he still has the right to contact Veena to change her mind.
Asad said that Veena was not only a good wife but a good mother as well. He said their children at this age require the mother’s care.
He said that because of much preoccupation with his business, the differences emerged between him and Veena, which can be resolved easily.
He was hopeful that a patch-up would be worked out and said he was ready to accept Veena’s conditions with an open heart. He said he did not want to lose such a caring wife.
A couple of years after her marriage, Veena stayed away from the showbiz and has of late returned to it. She has not worked much in Pakistan, but earned notoriety for her performances in India that she abandoned after her wedding.
The actress has worked across the film and TV industry in Pakistan and India. In Bollywood, she has done two item songs as well, and Veena also dabbled in the Kannada film world “Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga.”
