DUBAI: Controversial Pakistani actress Meera said on Wednesday that she would contest the upcoming general elections to be held next year, if she is not successful in finding suitable work in Dubai.
Meera has been raising eyebrows every now and then for her controversial videos or catchy remarks (as well as her linguistic abilities). As per a local report, the Pakistani actress said that she would join Punjab Assembly and contest the general elections if she does not land a good role in Dubai.
“I have decided that if I do not find suitable work after my trip to Dubai, I will join the Punjab Assembly and contest the general elections to further the cause of the poor people of Pakistan,” she said.
According to Meera, she is a sensitive person who feels for the plight of the poor and would like to play her part in providing women with justice and education. She’s also started prepping for the elections.
“I want to further education and justice for women in Pakistan and that’s what my political slogan will be. I have already started preparing myself for the election campaign,” she said.
Meera is currently in Dubai where she is reportedly in talks to be cast in a couple of roles for upcoming movies. This seems to be a contingency plan for the actress, who has talked about her political ambitions in the past as well.
While one may scoff and laugh at Meera’s plans for the future, if Donald Trump can thump Hillary Clinton to become the most powerful man in the world, then Meera may also pull a surprise win. Who knows?
