Ever since the Uri attacks last year, apart from the division caused between India and Pakistan, another division seems to be floating around, where some support the Indian ban on Pakistani artists and others feel art and politics, being the separate entities they are, shouldn’t collide with one another. Karan Johar recently praised Fawad Khan, saying cinemas should be exposed to talent like him. With somewhat similar thoughts comes Saif Ali Khan, who referred to the star as exotic because he is “from the forbidden land.”

While talking to a leading Indian newspaper, Saif Ali Khan said,

“Make up your mind, make it a law if you want to. (Laughs) Also, there is a sense of exotic to them because they are from the forbidden land, like Fawad Khan. If they were from India, that would remove that extra glamour from them. Maybe they are just usual but there is a Mata Hari sense of a foreigner about them.”

“I can understand the ban. On one hand you are playing nice, casting each other in movies and playing cricket, and on the other hand, they cut five people’s heads — who are ‘they’ though, I don’t know. We don’t know how much to believe.”

Saif has never shied away from speaking his mind. Fawad Khan won Indian audiences with his play Humsafar and then his Bollywood debut movie Khoobsurat followed by Kapoor and Sons. In a short span of time he’s managed to earn everyone’s respect which is why he is so fondly remembered by Bollywood stars.
