Once in a while, it is nice to take a breather from dramas which are high on suspense or dealing with the in-law and polygamy issues and tune into something simple yet containing a lot of emotions. Something like the Sami Khan and Naveen Waqar-starrer called Beinteha which after 6 episodes continues to capture the viewers’ attention, mainly because of the narrative which has been written quite well by Rida Bilal.
With Bisma (Naveen Waqar) having told her father that she is in love with Sherry (Sami Khan) and having been kicked out of the house for daring to love someone else besides Ali (Faris Shafi), that too a few days before the wedding, Bisma is completely devasted. Does she elope with Sherry? Well, read on to find out what steps she takes in Beinteha this week.

As much as we had predicted that Bisma would run towards Sherry she, in fact, goes to her friend’s house and meets Sherry only once. That too because her friend tells him where she is! With Bisma’s father furious with her for bringing disgracing the family name, what was actually nice to watch was that no one created a whole weeping scenario or cursing her instead the situation was being handled as maturely, intelligently as it could have been handled. Which is why we have become fans of Bilal’s style of writing which draws inspiration from real life situations.
Coming back to the drama, with Ali finding out that Bisma loves Sherry and does not want to marry him all hell breaks loose. Especially, when he sees Sherry in Bisma’s house inquiring about her whereabouts. Where initially Ali’s parents were hurt with the wedding being called off, what was surprising to see was them sitting and trying to talk Bisma’s father in bringing her home as it was not decent throwing a girl out of the house.

Then, Sherry’s mother (Rubina Ashraf) calls Bisma’s mother to tell her to speak with her husband and bring Bisma back as she did not do anything to disgrace them. We certainly liked this scene and were reminded of the fact why Ashraf, even today, is one of the finest actresses we have.
Bisma is upset with the recent events, she is still at her friend’s house, away from Ali and Sherry. But will her father mellow down and allow her back in the house? Will Sherry decide to let her go so she can live in peace? We are hooked and keen to find out what happens next on Wednesday at 8 pm only on Urdu1.
Direction by Qasim Ali Mureed continues to impress and this time it was Naveen Waqar who touched our hearts with her emotional yet in-depth acting. Beinteha is, in fact, one of those plays where one hour feels like seconds and you eagerly wait for the next episode to air soon so you can see what life has in store for Bisma, Ali, and Sherry.
