Chahat Fateh Ali Khan Faces 18 Crore Damage Claim

In a recent legal development in Faisalabad, Punjab, Qaiser Munir Khan, a well-known local personality, has issued a legal notice to comedian singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan. The notice demands an apology for defamation, with damages claimed at Rs 18 crore if not complied with within 15 days.

The legal action was communicated through Qaiser Munir Khan’s attorney, who spoke to the media regarding the issue. According to the attorney, Chahat’s family is notable in Faisalabad, enhancing the city’s fame. However, the attorney accuses Chahat of tarnishing this reputation through inappropriate actions.

The primary grievance involves Chahat’s claims of being related to the legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The lawyer alleges that Chahat has misrepresented this familial tie and indecently performed Nusrat’s songs, harming the late singer’s legacy.

Moreover, the lawyer claims that he has been altering the lyrics of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s songs on social media, actions deemed offensive to both Nusrat’s family and the residents of Faisalabad. As a result, a public apology to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s family, friends, and Faisalabad’s citizens has been demanded.

The lawyer warned that failure to meet the demands within 15 days would lead to a defamation lawsuit against Chahat Fateh Ali Khan in Faisalabad’s local court. Additionally, a fraud case would be filed against him with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Qaiser Munir, a close friend of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, felt personally aggrieved by Chahat’s actions, viewing them as disrespectful to the legendary singer’s memory and heritage. This personal connection has intensified the legal stakes, with efforts to protect and honour the cherished cultural legacy of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
